FOUNDATION NEWS



The Foundation has held two (2) history making meetings in 2002. In January the Foundation met with the College of Administration and Business and it's advisory board to discuss the Center for Entrepreneurship and Information Technology (CEnIT). In May there was joint meeting with the College of Education to discuss high school teacher preparation.

Officers for the 2002-03 term were elected at the May meeting. Tommy Folk (CE69) Manager of Folk & Co. of Ruston is President; John Morris (EE70), Deputy Assistant Director of Central Intelligence in Washington, DC is Vice President; Tom Singletary (Math68), VP of Convergence Systems at Century Tel in Monroe is Secretary and Tom Jeffery (ChE56), retired from PPG residing in Lake Charles is the Treasurer.

New Directors include Dan Carter (ChE84), Chief Legal Officer for the NATCO Group in Houston; Dr. Jackie Garner (Math PhD55), retired Professor and Dept. Head at the University of Arkansas Little Rock; Richard Louden (ME78), Sr. VP El Paso Energy in Houston; Tim Petrus (EE76), VP of Acquistions for XTO Energy in Fort Worth; Gayle Magee Red (EE85) VP and Co-owner of Crescent Systems in Dallas; Gene Trammel (ME78); Director of Customer Service for Netqos, Inc., in Austin, TX; and Deborah Wells (BmD87), Manager of Payload Program at the Kennedy Space Center.

Two (2) Life Directors were also elected: Tom Smith (IE), retired Human Resource Manager for Chevron from Nederland, TX and Thurmon Lauret (CE), President of THL and Associates of Houston.
