Senior Design for 2003-2004

We have changed the day of the week for one of our senior design classes this fall. Both sections of MEEN 480 will now meet from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

We have changed the way that we normally handle senior design. Rather than be a two course sequence, it is now a three course sequence. Students will normally take these courses as follows:

           Fall quarter                 MEEN 480

           Winter quarter            MEEN 481

           Spring quarter            MEEN 482

We believe that this change will be helpful for our students as their design process is not so rushed. It will also allow us to have some interaction with other engineering programs which also have a three quarter engineering design sequence.

We recognize that there are some students who have planned their schedules in advance, assuming they will graduate in Winter 2004. To accommodate these students, for this next year only, we will still offer the two course, two quarter sequence. Students in this situation should register for MEEN 450B (for two hours) instead of registering for MEEN 480. This option is only for those who desire to graduate in Winter 2004. All other seniors must take the full year version of senior design.

Summer and Fall Advising

Advising time has arrived again. Summer and Fall Quarter schedules are on the BOSS system. Paper versions of the schedules should be available about April 30, 2003. Actual registration of students on BOSS is:

May 5             honors students and graduate students

           May 6             seniors

           May 8             juniors

           May 12           sophomores

           May 14           freshmen

Make sure that you sign up with your adviser and get advised before it is your turn to register on line.

Senior Design Conference

Our senior design conference will be held on May 9, 2003. Students who are not in senior design are encouraged to come and watch. All of the other engineering programs will also be holding their senior design presentations at the same time.
